Trace carbon reductions from farm to customer across many sites

Cooperatives, malt houses, millers, refiners and brands each hold a piece of the chain. Segmos keeps one chain of custody across all of them, so reductions booked at the farm reach the customer who pays for them.

Cross-organization chain of custody
One chain of custody from cooperative to end customer
Grain moves from farm to cooperative, to malt house or mill, to the brand, and each organization keeps its own records. The link to the reduction breaks at every hand-over.

Segmos carries the chain of custody across organizations: each partner records its intake and output, and the emission profile follows the volume to the next site.
Hand-overs between organizations
Cooperative to malt producer to brand, each transfer recorded once and visible to both sides.
Role-based access
Each partner sees its own volumes and the reductions attached to them, nothing more.
Multi-season history
Follow programmes harvest after harvest with a record that outlives any single contract.
Reconciliation
One inventory across all your sites
Many farms, many different reductions, many sites: most programmes still reconcile this in spreadsheets, one per grower, one per season, one per customer.

Segmos runs a mass balance per site and period and keeps a live balance of the low-carbon volume available, so reconciliation stops being a quarterly exercise.
Mass balance per site and period
Inputs, outputs and stocks reconciled per site over a defined period, aligned with the GHG Protocol Land Sector and Removals Standard.
Live available volume
Sustainability and commercial teams see how much low-carbon volume is left to sell, at any time.
No double counting
Every tonne of reduction is booked once, and the trail is reproducible for auditors.

Customer allocation
Match available volumes to customer demand
A brand wants a low-carbon volume for one product line, a cooperative member wants credit for its own reductions.
Segmos allocates the available volume to each customer request and produces the documented emission profile the buyer can use in its Scope 3 reporting.
Allocate by request
Assign volumes to a customer, a product or a contract, and see what remains.
Documented emission profiles
Each allocation comes with the measurement, allocation and transfer trail behind it.
Reports, not workbooks
Send customers and auditors clean reports generated from the same record.
Q&A

Questions, answered.

How many organizations can be in one chain?

As many as the supply chain has. Cooperatives, collectors, processors and brands each get their own account and see the volumes that concern them.
Transfers between two partners are recorded once and visible to both.

Do we need a carbon measurement tool before starting?

No. Segmos can take the output of your existing tool through an API integration.
If you have no tool yet, we assist with data collection and management.

Is mass balance accepted for Scope 3 reporting?

Yes, under defined conditions set by the GHG Protocol Land Sector and Removals Standard:
- Inputs and outputs with specified characteristics are known and tracked.
- Characteristics are allocated proportionally to outputs.
- A reconciliation period is defined.
- Mixing stays within the same country and sourcing region.

Can we keep our existing spreadsheets during the transition?

Yes. Existing files are imported as a starting balance, and exports remain available at any time. Most teams stop maintaining the spreadsheets once the live inventory is in place.
